Handel, a Young Outsider Abroad

Soprano Maya Kherani's debut album features four works Handel wrote as a young composer in Italy: the solo cantatas No se emendará jamás HWV 140, Ah, che pur troppo è vero HWV 77, and La Lucrezia HWV 145, and the aria Tu del ciel ministro eletto from Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno HWV 46a, all performed with continuo alone. The program moves from pastoral reflection through grief to Lucrezia's furious final scene before her death, tracing an arc from private sorrow to something far more charged.
